While we don\u2019t need new reasons to be proud Canadians, the Olympic Opening Ceremony I think has certainly opened the eyes of the world to our diverse culture and rich history.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Opening the ceremonies with the traditional welcome pole of the 1st Nations was inspiring and showed the world our country\u2019s respect to our founding people. The opening was beautiful visually I loved the section with the fiddlers and then when the whales were crossing the stadium \u2013 WOW!<\/p>\n
As Canada entered the stadium emotions overflowed from the stadium right across our great country and to our military serving overseas we all joined together as one, proudly showing the world what a great country Canada is.
\nOne of the announcers said during the ring of energy that Canada is at the top of the world and we certainly are right now.\u00a0<\/p>\n
I loved listening to Donald Sutherland\u2019s voice as he introduced each new section of the presentations \u2013 I have always enjoyed listening to his deep, penetrating voice and he was a great choice.<\/p>\n
I think one of the highlights for me was Shane Koyczan\u2019s poem \u201cWe are More\u201d it\u2019s always been tough to define us as a country and his poem was great at pointing out our uniqueness as a country.<\/p>\n
We Canadians also have a great sense of humour and I\u2019m sorry, but it was funny to look at the face of Steve Nash and the other athletes as they waited for the cauldrons to come up, I can just imagine what they were thinking \u2013 Steve Nash was the funniest though!<\/p>\n
Even with the little mistakes (Bryan & Nelly lip singing was pretty bad) we did a great job of introducing our great country to the world!<\/p>\n
